Hello and welcome to Pixelation.

Please make sure you read the RULES. Reading the FAQ can not hurt either.

Have fun.

I don't know if this is the right place to do it. But i'm guessing it is :)

Hey, How are things going? I'm EarthboundRK, Call me Rusty-Kun if you like.
I've been very interested in PixelArt for many years now, and it ties in with my major interest with Graphics Design. (Off to Uni in a week to study it)
So to sum up, Hey guys.

So... um... hey?
I don't have a lot of experience in pixel art, but I figure that's why I should join a place like this! Hopefully I can get some great pointers here. I've admired a lot of the work I've seen in these forums, and after coming here for the tenth time, I figured I should sign up and post(though my job pulls me away from a lot of independent stuff I want to do). I look forward to hearing any and all opinions that can be thrown my way! I'm not looking to be a pro at pixel work- but there's a great amount of patience and trial and error that goes into this art-genre that allures me. You guys have a lot of patience(as well as skill) to do what you do, and I can only hope I can get halfway there!  :) <-- that shows you I'm excited to be here.  :P<-- okay. That's even more excited.

Yay first post here

I'm xdjkittiex.  Feel free to call me kittie or by my real name : Kellie.
I'm 21 years old and I've been doing pixel art for the last 8 years.  About 3 of those years were strictly spent 'dolling' and then I started making my own bases and pixel artworks.
I'm currently attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division and I'm in the Media Arts & Animation program.
Although I've been working with pixels for a long time I still have more than enough room for improvement, especially in the shading and lighting department  :D
Anyways, thats me :)

Well hello, I've been told this is the place to introduce myself. So, here I go.
My name is xhunterko. I've been looking around here a couple days now. Plus I've looked at it the past month for advice you've given to others. I've never wanted to join because of the language (and slight perversion) on this site. So, after getting some help, but not enough, on another, I figured this would have to be the place to get Good pixel art advice. I'm on several other sites as well, Myspace, The Daily Click, Filefront, and yahoo.
Hope to learn some great stuff here. :)

Hey, my names Alex, im 20, and have been playing around with various forms of pixel art for about 7 years now. I was part of the microhero community, if anyone knows what that is, and found this site a couple of years back. i joined, figured my skills were pretty sub par for this place, and left. Now, ive gotten much better, but i think i still have a ways to go, and thats why im here.

Greetings,

My name is Mike Poole & I joined here because I used to be a member of the OLD Pixelation years back.
And I admit to also scout out "talent".  As Im also a head of a small indy dev crew. But, I wont get into that
here as I have already seen a thread for such announcements.

When I was on the old Pixelation I used to do a tiny bit of pixeling myself. But, I have gotten horribly out of
practice. So, in between scouting out a few folks. I'll be reading and analyzing a few pieces here in hopes
of getting back into the groove.

Hi everybody.

I've just registered so I thought I'd introduce myself.
I actually used to be a member of the old pixelation forums years back when it was pixelation.cjb.net or something like that (if I remember right).

Anyways, here's some of my stuff - mostly very old, so I guess some people may even recognise it. It's mostly for games I've been (never getting around to) making.

I look forward to hopefully getting some useful feedback on future works.

Hi there,
just introducing myself, my names Sonistar and I'm new to pixel art.
Im studying 3d modelling in the UK and after testing out some low poly models with some pixel art textures I've been drawn to try some pixel art.
Currently I've read some tutorials and started some (rather crap) pixel art, and a friend linked me to this forum so I'm joining up to get some much needed advice and critisism. (and motivation!)

My website is here - www.sonistar.co.uk
Current pixel art is here ( I know, its very rubbish) - http://sonistar.co.uk/art/spriteart/index.php
and if anyones interested in my low poly, pixel arty 3d models, which shouldnt really be shown as its still work in progress then they're all in my demoreel (which is a 3d engine I coded myself, hence buggy and WIP) at - http://sonistar.co.uk/CV/LeeMcGuireDemoReel.zip

Look forward to hearing from anyone, and thanks for taking the time to look at this post :)
Sonistar makes random arty things in 2d and 3d.
Go have a look at http://www.sonistar.co.uk

Why halo thar.
The name's Meji. I'm an 18 year old male and live in Sweden. I pretty much ended up here on Pixelation because of Jad. (:
I have zero experience when it comes to pixeling, but after seeing all of Jad's (and other peoples) work(s), it got me all overexcited. And all because of that I now feel the urge to, at least, learn the basics of the pixel.

I've just subscribe but I've been around the board for a moment getting inspiration or training with challenges and activities...
I've never dare until now to subcribe and post... until now ^^

So here I am, Ashes, 37 from Belgium (so forgive me if my english is not perfect, french is my mother tongue)
I'm a pixeladdict trying to be pixel artist... As I came to drawing and pixel very late (32), I'm not really experienced.
But I'm willing so hard to improve myself in drawning and in pixel art...that I'm going on working (even if something I feel like I'll never reach the level I whish I had)

Huhu... talking to much again ^^...
See ya later

Greetings...

I'm an indie game designer from Pennsylvania. My first major project was Viking Bazooka Bloodbath, and currently I'm the project lead for Indie Brawl. I'm starting a new project soon, which I hope will bring my pixel art to new levels. That was my motivation to join these forums.

I've been pixeling for less than a year now, but the art style has really grown on me. I don't have a lot of work to show, and some of it is pretty old and in need of improvement, but here's a sample of what I've done so far:

Anyway, I like the new incarnation, and just wanted to introduce myself.

Howdy!

So, I do some indie game development stuff, which basically necessitates pixel art unless you have a little team going on, or have too much free time. Having neither of those, pixel art it is. I also just really like the style in general.

Anyways, came here to get a little better, and also to see everyone else's vastly superior stuff.

Hello.

I was shown this site by the user Pixel-Joy.com. I'll be the other person working on that project (see his introduction), mostly doing art and design work. I am completely new to pixel art, never done any of it before, and so I'm here to learn, find tutorials, see examples from others, and post my own work to hopefully get some help from other users of this site who are more experienced. Of course, I have to actually create something first. XD

I've been registered here for some time now but never properly introduced myself. I'm the senior programmer at Eponasoft, an independent developer of games, compilers, and utilities for the PC and Nintendo DS. Since I am a programmer, I do not pixel very well, though I am rather skilled with high-poly-count 3D scenes and dabble in animation in said format from time to time. A few of you may already know me, even if you don't know it yet...

I use Graphics Gale for pixel art and I have made games in The games Factory and Multimedia Fusion for about six years now, and my hobbies include: El-Guitar, Pixelart, Programming, Gaming (Indie and not).

Oh and btw, these smilies rock!  :D

I know Pixelation since 2003 but I never took the time to register. I'm a professionnal pixel artist, I've worked on many mobile phone games, GBA games and one DS game, and I am now going indie (or at least trying). I must say that I'm really impressed by the general quality of the artwork submitted here. This is a great source of inspiration. Nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone!

Interesting to see the board isn't as old as I thought! Anyway I am a 21 year-old programmer of all sorts trying to get back into doing some pixel art. I never learned good techniques and never really advanced anywhere because of it. So today I was looking around for pixel art communities and came across Pixelation :).

See you around!

Jovan, maybe the board IS as old as you thought, this incarnation is one after a big swipe that ereased a lot of stuff. the old board was blue and purple, as far as I know goes back to around 2001. Now, if you were thinking amiga days...then yeah, the board isnt that old :p

Yeah. I spoke to a few people on IRC and figured that out :).

I love pixel art and even though I never really devoted myself to it, playing games like Metal Slug, Contra, and the rest always encourages me to do it myself, even if it's not exactly quality work.

Assuming this gets read, here is a quick introduction:

I've been playing games since the C64 and I've always been amazed by what people have been able to do with a few strategically placed dots. In the bits of time that aren't really spare but aren't entirely someone else's either, I've been known to throw some dots together with disasterous results. Over the past few weeks I've decided to buckle down and learn a thing or two about serious pixel drawing, and in that time I think I've made some small progress. Still, no way better to learn than to throw myself at the mercy of those with more experience! I'm  looking forward to learning from all y'all.

Okay, I've read the rules, I've read the FAQs and I'm ready to get started.  I've always loved pixel art, from the days when it was cutting edge graphics to today.  I used to do a lot of icon art and ANSI graphics back in the BBS days and still love plopping down pixels, one-by-one, to get something.  I especially like to see how I can get an idea across with minimal colors and size.  Anyway, I've recently joined Pixel Joint and have migrated here as well in hopes of getting better.  I'm in no way a professional artist, I'm just your average Computer Systems Analyst but I love taking spare time to bang out pixel stuff.  I'm way older than the average here so all I'll say is my first computer was a Commodore Vic-20... when they were new. ;)

Hello everyone, I have tried before to get into pixel art with little success. The main reason is because I am designing a game on RMXP and want to create 100% of my graphics. I also am going to take an Adobe Flash course and want to learn pixeling skills for that as well.

Nice to meet everyone, hope to learn a lot and have fun here!

'allo everyone, how do you do?

I'm Koi Kami Mauro. I've been spriting for some... 4 or 5 years now.

The reason I say spriting? I've been brought up on Sonic fan forums, and on the tradition of sprite editing. However, since much of my spriting is nowadays 90%custom (I suck at hands), I figure it's about time I take the big step and become a full-fledged pixeller.

Hi everyone. I'm Antifarea, I've been spriting since january 2009. Now, I have seen this forum before, and even read the rules back then, but then I didn't had internet at the time at home... so I finally decided to join, so I can learn more and get constructive criticism. I'm still learning as it's only been two months... nice to meet you all. :)

I'm The Mozack.

I've been involved in pixel art as a hobby since 2003, and had in most part submitted submissions in deviantART under "themozack" for at least three years. However, the neglect of dA's pixel art section over the years has prompted me to create an account in Pixeljoint, where I submitted a very limited number of submissions concurrently with dA, and had been engaged in Pixeljoint's forums more actively. Much of my work is focused on isometric depictions of scenes and objects, but I'm also interested in non-isometric works.

Until recently, the rate that I learn pixel art has been very slow, owing to the fact that I have not been able to invest time practicing or do not have much constructive comments on my work. As a result, much of my earlier works are now considered mediocre by pixel art standards (despite the fact that two of them ended up as DDs on dA). Hence my participation of Pixelation, where more professional input and resources are available to speed up the learning process. I certainly have lots of room for improvement.

Hello hello peers, programmers, and lovers of the pixel art. The corny introduction is followed by a mini biography right? Ah, well then let us proceed;

For fear of being hunted down one day by an internet stalker the name I've chosen to go by on the world wide web is CJ (Which is very close to my actual name, irony?). Joking aside, I've been a lurker on these forums for God knows how long now. Always thought to myself 'Ah well I can't fit in with these guys. They're too good, I'm lacking something essential to be apart of this community!' but I figured I should put an end to this train of thought immediately, four-three years of lurking and here I am; putting an end to that thought, funny when I think about it.

A big fan of art though. It's amazing to me how a gorgeous piece of art can be made with Sculpting, or how one pixel can go on to lead a beautiful outcome of a highly appreciated piece. Though I'm not lacking in the self-confidence department, my pixel art isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Of course I'm not that bad and I do have my days where I'm on my game, there has to be some way to improve myself so that these "some" days become practically everyday right? Joining this community I feel as though I can achieve that. Reading through numerous threads over the years you guys give top notch criticism whether it be harsh or kind it provides the artist great insight on what he/she could/should do with there piece or next one. There are plenty of artists whose work I admire and have, in a sense, motivated me to work harder in my own pixel 'level'. Hopefully this community can provide just that and I'm glad that I've finally decided to join and embrace Pixelation to it's fullest.

Hullo all. I've been lurking in the shadows for a few years and only recently grew a brain which informed me I'd grow even more if I actually reached out and asked for input, rather than stare at a piece presuming it'll somehow just tell me what it is that is mysteriously wrong with it.

And so here I am.

Oh, right - I live in Australia.

Hi, i'm Leonardo from Italy (No, i'm not eating spaghetti right now  :P)
Grew up loving those little pixel puppets from Alundra. Now Pixel Art is one of my hobbies, which includes: losing my time doing nothing epic for humanity, drawing comics, act (nothing better than a good laugh) and watching The Blues Brothers.
