nah, i'd say skurvy fits into "Convoluted Action Flick 2009 - this time we've got less guns and more disconnected dialogue"

helm belongs in "memoirs of a 38-year-old writer looking back on his "life", where somehow nothing is outdated except the plot"

Being that i've cut my hair again, I belong in the background of "Independent Romantic Comedy - spelled with capital letters because we're using the Victorian terms instead of modern adjectives"

I think any picture of Helm should have the background of a bloodsoaked battlefield covered in a thousand crow-pecked barbarian corpses with twin moons (one of which is slowly collapsing) hanging in the bleak crimson sky. It just fits.

Hello everybody!

I'm Zufub. In real life I'm using name Krzysztof (Christopher). I'm from this country that many Americans hate: Poland. I'm bit young, but Time don't wanna give me more time, for life. I'm 15 (in December). My English is bit suck, but I'm still learning. I'm sure I made some bugs in this text :P I really like to read books. My favourite author is Stephen King. I'm writing some too, but I am not skilled enough to translate it for you :/ In future I want to be a reporter. I want to write to a magazines. Not to flying to Iraq or other country in war for looking for news, but computer magazines. I'm also learning pixArt and C++. Yes, I want to know how to make games and programms! First game I want to do, is Sudoku for my parents. I want to make Sudoku, that will be generating next games, just by pressing the button "generate". So.. there will be as many as you want Sudoku's :). Next I want to make a simulator of Ant Empires. Many tipes of ants, super-realistic game :) But first, I need to learn C++ :P Thats all. Thank you for reading :P

PS. My sex is male (boy/man).

A lot of Americans don't even know Poland is a country, how could they hate it?  ;)

yeah, and pick a random Pole and ask him about, say, the American Civil War. . . or even of Polish Underground State during the WW2. one out of five will shrug their shoulders or make up an utterance full of complete nonsense, I bet.

there are dumb people *everywhere*, but come on, who believes in stereotypes? *that* is just being ignorant.

Polish PS @Zufub: Rodaku! witaj na Pixelation! mamy nadzieję, że czas spędzony tutaj nie będzie dla Ciebie stracony. . .

heheh, hail, warrior! believe me or not, but I was playing with blood and iron! for some time as well (simulating a Varangian guard member; weapons of choice: one-handed spear reinforced by a kite shield), but didn't actually have a pleasure to fight in a real battle. you know, in my country we have that famous Jomsborg/Vineta annual festival you should really come to see if an opportunity strikes.

now please concentrate on pixels, though! ;)

Closest i've ever come to such  a thing; i attended (though did not participate) in an SCA event a few years back.
T'was there i managed to get pretty toasty on mead :) underage drinking ftw. well I'm no underage *now* so i guess maybe not.

anyways, i'm a poor redneck from the southern US, so the odds of me even being able to afford a trip to europe are practically nil.

Heh, you wouldn't be the first person to make that assumption. I usually take it as a compliment. I'm not entirely sure of my parentage but i'm pretty sure i've got a good bit of northern european blood in me. And I listen to a lot of european metal, (power, Black, prog,  you name it, i've probably headbanged to it.) and if you ever heard me talk you'd never guess i was from hicksville

Which is to say i *do* feel a bit out of place where i'm currently living  :D

And i hate living here except for all the nice foresty places around where I live. It's not not being bothered untill you start geting funny looks for being some crazy long haired devil worshipper (Not that I am, just most folks are here are...well. ignorant. yeah. not terribly fond of the southern baptists. they tend to think in black and white; use the term 'agnostic' and they're pretty sure that you murder babies, kick puppies, eat kittens, ad nauseum.)

(i certainly should have done this earlier, but well)

I'm Sylvain, which is hard to speak in anything else than French, so you can just call me "Pype". And the "Bros." is a reference to my fanship to SuperMario, Yoshi and Zelda games -- and to the fact that i'm currently working on games for the Nintendo DS system.

I'm more a coder than a pixel artist, and that since the age of 10 (roughly speaking) on the antic (but venerated) Commodore 64. I'm interested in drawing since even earlier, but i never really took painting course, unfortunately. I sometimes manage to put some nice pixels together, but i certainly still have much to learn in this area. Hue shifting ... saturation slider ... dynamic poses... All terms that i never heard of before signing up on this board. I'm somehow in quest for the "golden rules" of pixelation, but i'm nearly 30 years old, too, so i might give you the feeling of a lazy bastard not putting enough pride on his work while i'm simply too busy doing the washing up and gardening :P

I also suck at pixelating with a mouse on a regular painting program and stay away from Windows OS (so if you see fresh pixels of mine, it's likely meaning that it's been pixelated on the Nintendo DS itself ;) ), so i hope you'll stand my poor habbit of doing comments on gameplay, gaming hardware and the like, while i should maybe focus more on pure graphics aspects.

Hi all!

I'm not quite sure how did I discover this board, I just found myself lurking around in here  ;D

So, I'm a guy from Finland and I do programming and drawing on my spare time and I used to do pixel-art some time ago, and now I just got the feeling I need to start it again. And that's because of you in these forums, thank you.

It seems there are nice people and fantastic artists around here, I hope I'll learn a lot here.

I just found this community  :)

Anyways, I'm Giaken. Been working with gaming for about 4 years on various engines. I'm a Visual Basic programmer. I'm one of the owners of OGCore (Online Game Core), a game engine community and I own and program on my engine. I work with several different games. I'm not really good with pixeling at all...I'm 18 years old living with a room mate in Virginia Beach.

I plan on trying to improve my pixeling one day  :P

Anyways, hopefully I'll be around posting and practicing.

... I hope this is the same community, otherwise I'mma feel a bit dumb, eh?

It's been years since I last made any kind of pixel art with effort, but I'm hoping to get back into it and you all were the community I've been searching for.

Other than that, I'm from Texas, USA, but I'm not the stereotypical Texan so don't worry about any rumors you may have heard... except about the number of insane people in straightjackets :D

Hey, I'm Will(Anbaraen, although Anbar or An are acceptable.) I'm from Australia. I've been lurking these forums for a while, after I got briefly interested in pixel art. I was browsing my bookmarks about 3 weeks ago and saw Pixelation. I foolishedly clicked on it, and am now hopelessly in love with pixel art. I haven't gotten around to doing any of my own. (Although I will be soon...) I'm 15, but I hope you won't stereotype me like some internet users do into being an idiot. I'm afraid my age-group has made rather a bad impression on the wider community, but I know that you guys at Pixelation only care about the art.

Just a small question.. Does anyone know of a homebrew pixelling program for the DS? I've been looking around a bit, but all I could find was the game Drawn To Life, which quite frankly is mediocre. I found some painting apps, but I really would like a pixelling app for my DS. Thanks in advance for anyone who can hook me up.

I don't know what happened, I guess I took a wrong turn somewhere and got lost or fell off the edge of the earth or something :)

I was never really any good at pixel art but I always enjoyed trying anyway, so I'm looking forward to seeing your new stuff and hopefully learning a bit :)

Hi, I guess I should post here even though I already sort of introduced myself in my pixel art thread. I'm a "veteran" pixel artist in the sense that I've been screwing around with pixels a while, but it took a long time before I was doing anything but changing megaman's hair color. I'm not sure how seriously I want to be a pixel guy in my life, I certainly don't plan on making a living off it, but I'd rather be able to make my own graphics whenever I get a game idea, which is often. Plus, pixel art is an end unto itself: it's fun. :)

Hello everyone!
I stumbled upon PixelJoint while browsing for some pixels, because I absolutely LOVE them! I'm more of a traditional artist, and I'm still trying to refine my skills as a pixel artist. I make most of my pixels with pre-made pixel doll bases, because I'm not so good at shading. ^^;;
Though, I want to try and change that, and hopefully become as good as the artists here! ^^

hello all!  my name is Carsten I am a long time artist but new to pixelling.  I dabbled in it a few years ago but unfortunately set it down... My interest is piqued once again on my being inspired to work on game concepts using pixel art to illustrate.
I think everyone here is great and I've been lurking for a couple months!

thanks  :)

Just saying hi...again
I used to be an user of old pixel, and the new, and then got kicked out due to some issues here (bad behaviour?), hopefully all is forgotten, and ill try to play real nice :)
I browse the galleries from time to time, fooling myself into thinking i could still wip out some good stuff, so im here seeing if i could learn again, and practice, seing as drawing still is one of my favourite things, even tho time doesnt allow me to do it.

Cheers to all :)

Heyo!(That's pretty much my one-liner.)

I'm Jack Sanders. I'm a programmer and a pixelist. I love to draw pixel art, it gets my mind off of frustrating things, and it feels like I'm in my own little world when I'm doing it. My own little world where no one can bother me  :y:.

I'm pretty much an MS Paint junkie, but I use GIMP to save things in other formats, animate, and apply transparency.  :-X
I came here mostly looking to hire someone to work for me, but alas, I fear I don't have quite enough money at the moment to afford such things. I would pixel for myself in a game I'd like to make, but it'd be too much work on my part and I'd most likely half-ass the pixel work just so I could get by. So, yeah. I've been drawing since I was 3, bla, bla, bla. I plan on going to college to study CS and programming. Eventually to hopefully widdle waddle my way into Lionhead Studios.

Oh yes, and I'm 14 years old.

Hello. My name is Evan and I use Photoshop. I really like allot of the pictures here but I'm afraid to post anything I have done in case I've used the wrong tools or something. And from everything I have seen so far I'm rather intimidated by everyone's art as it is so good and I'm, not as good, or even close. I need some help too with something which I'll post a thread about in a minute.

Hola all, I've been here for a while now, and haven't introduced myself properly.

My name is Alec, I'm 13 and have been doing pixel art for almost 2 years now.

I'm into:
Drawing
Videogames
(and trying to get into) programming

That's about it.
Currently in progress - portfolio.

Hey Trebor, I remember seeing you on some RPG maker site a few years ago or something. Welcome! Greetings to Jakman, Krumbs, and Dokozai too.  ;D
